Chelsea textile house · est. 2019

Two names.
One cloth.

Double Firat Limited designs, sources and supplies decorative textiles and accessories for rooms that still believe in fabric. Wholesale, private client and mail order share the same standard: the hand must approve what the photograph promised.

I

The house is named for a doubled line.

Double Firat Limited was incorporated on 21 August 2019 as a private limited company in England and Wales. The registered office is 84 Fulham Road, London SW3 6HR — a stretch of Chelsea that still understands a curtain as architecture.

The name is not a flourish. It describes the way the company works: two markets, one discipline. We supply the trade — retailers, interior studios, small manufacturers — and we supply the private room that wants a length of cloth without a showroom performance. Mail order and internet retail sit beside wholesale because a serious fabric should travel well, folded, labelled and honest about its origin.

Our filed activities are wholesale of textiles; retail sale of textiles in specialised stores; retail sale via mail order or internet; and other retail sale not in stores. Behind those codes is a shorter sentence: we live in cloth. We advise on design, product development, merchandising and the unglamorous work of getting a roll from a loom to a cutting table without it becoming a compromise.

Clients include independent fashion labels, interior practices, boutique hotels, and households that still write a letter when they want a border in a particular red. We will not pretend to be a mill. We are a house that knows mills, finishers, printers and the people who sew a decent heading tape.

II

What the atelier actually does.

Decorative textiles

Curtain cloth, upholstery weights, sheers, borders and the linings that decide whether a window looks considered or merely covered. We sample in person on Fulham Road or by posted swatch, then cut to the metre or to a made-up specification agreed with your workroom.

  • Window cloth in wool, linen, silk-mix and technical sheers
  • Upholstery weaves with Martindale figures written on the ticket
  • Borders, trims and the small lines that finish a room
  • Flame-retardant treatments discussed before, not after, a hotel brief

Fashion and accessory cloth

Short runs for labels that still cut in Britain or nearby. We help with design direction, mill introductions and the discipline of ordering only what a collection can finish. Accessories — scarves, soft belts, small leather-adjacent objects — are developed when the cloth suggests them, not as an afterthought catalogue.

  • Collection fabrics with colour cards that match production
  • Men’s and women’s accessory programmes
  • Sustainable procurement where the mill can prove the claim
  • Lookbook cloth that can actually be reordered

Trade counsel

Product development, merchandising, digital retail and the finance of a fabric season. Double Firat will sit with a founder who has a beautiful sample and no idea how many metres to risk. We prefer that conversation to a warehouse of unsold rolls.

  • Wholesale distribution introductions
  • Retail and e-commerce merchandising
  • Customer service standards for cloth that arrives by post

A working cloth library.

Select a ground. The studio preview changes with the swatch. These are house colours, not a full mill card — write for the box if you need the rest.

Ivory chalk · linen union

A dry linen union for curtains that must still fall. Takes a border without arguing.

Window

Fullness, lining, interlining and the heading that suits the architecture. We will not sell a silk that cannot live with a south-facing sash. Chelsea light is part of the specification.

Upholstery

Wear figures, seam strength and whether a velvet will smile on a seat that is used every evening. Decorative is allowed. Fragile is not, unless the client says so in writing.

Bed and table

Sheeting, throws and cloths that can be washed by a human being. Hotel programmes are quoted separately and include replacement cycles.

Accessory

Scarves, ties, soft bags and the small objects that let a fabric live off the sofa. Developed in pairs — always a double — so a collection has a conversation with itself.

Three doors into the same house.

01

Wholesale

Account holders receive season cards, reserve metres and a named person who knows which mill is late. Minimums exist because a loom does not start for a courtesy. Terms are written. Samples are not “free” if they are going to be used as stock.

02

Private client

A Fulham Road appointment or a posted box. We cut what you have chosen, or we send you to a workroom we trust. We will say when a cheaper cloth will do the same job. That sentence is part of the fee.

03

Mail order & internet

Lengths, accessory pieces and restocks travel with a handwritten card and a fibre composition that a customs officer and a customer can both read. Returns are accepted on uncut cloth within fourteen days. Cut lengths are a decision.

VI

From first swatch to last stitch.

  1. Letter or visit

Write to info@double-firat.online with the room, the use and any cloth you already love. Or come to 84 Fulham Road. We do not begin with a password-protected portal.

  2. Swatch

A box leaves the studio. You live with it in the actual light. Photographs are a courtesy. Daylight is the brief.

  3. Reserve

Metres are held. If a mill cannot repeat a dye, we say so before you commit a workroom.

  4. Cut or make

We supply the length, or we coordinate making. Headings, linings and trims are specified as carefully as the face cloth.

  5. Aftercare

Cleaning notes, repair introductions and the option to reorder a border two years later if the dye lot still exists. If it does not, we will not invent a match and hope.

VII

Studio notes.

A lining is not a secret

Clients ask to see the face and then wave away the lining as if it were plumbing. Lining decides drape, light, heat and how long a curtain remains a curtain. We put lining samples in the same box as the face cloth. If a budget can afford only one good thing, we will sometimes argue for a plainer face and a better lining.

Wholesale is a conversation about repeat

A beautiful one-off is a gift. A business is a repeat. When we take a wholesale account we ask how the cloth will be reordered, photographed and explained by someone who was not in the first meeting. If that story does not exist, we help write it before we book the mill.

Oxblood is a discipline

The house red is easy to get wrong. Too brown and it becomes mahogany. Too bright and it becomes a costume. We keep a master swatch in a drawer that does not see fluorescent light. New dye lots are checked against that drawer, not against a screen.

Mail order still needs a hand

A length folded by someone who has seen the cloth behave will arrive differently from a length folded by a warehouse that also ships kettles. We pack on Fulham Road. The card in the box is written by a person who can answer the email that follows.

Sustainability without the sermon

We prefer mills that can show fibre origin, water use and a repair path. We do not print a leaf on a swing tag and call it a philosophy. If a cloth is simply beautiful and honest, that is already a kind of care.

The double in accessories

Scarves and ties are issued in pairs of colour — a chalk and a red, a moss and a gilt — so a small collection feels finished. The name of the company is a merchandising instruction as much as a signature.

They sent six swatches and a letter that told me which one would fail in my south window. I bought the quieter cloth. The room is better for the refusal.
Private client, Kensington
Our wholesale account is small. They treat it as if it were a house account at a mill. That is rare and, frankly, the reason we stayed.

Before you write.

Both. Trade accounts have different minimums and terms. Private clients are welcome for lengths, accessories and made-up work through recommended rooms. Mail order is open to either once the cloth has been chosen properly.

We prefer a note first. The studio on Fulham Road is a working room, not a department store. Write to info@double-firat.online and we will give you a time when the table is clear.

We specify and supply. Making is done by workrooms we have used for years. If you already have a maker, we will work to their cutting notes.

The room or the collection, the use, a photograph of the light if you have one, and whether you are buying as trade or private client. Send it to info@double-firat.online.

Letters are read at the same table as the cloth. We reply from info@double-firat.online. If you want a swatch box, say so in the first line.
